National Gallery Collection ( The National Gallery Company Limited )
Start Licensing Limited are working with The National Gallery Company Limited to develelop a commercial licensing programme using the unique collection of artwork owned by The National Gallery.
A style guide has been created for use by licensees and initial products are in development.
Works available from the Collection include :
- Stubbs – Whistlejacket.
- Constable – The Hay Wain.
- Turner – The Fighting Temeraire.
- Canaletto – The Stonemason’s Yard.
- Cezanne – Bathers at Asnieres.
There are literally hundreds of works available to license. The National Gallery has developed a great website to help visitors plan their visit and this is a great resource for licensees to review the collection: http://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/
The National Gallery has a strong commitment to schools and education. They have an annual project Take One Picture that involves schools throughout the country. The National Gallery is a popular destination for school trips.
A number of The National Gallery’s paintings featured in BBC Radio 2's top ten of Britain’s Favourite Paintings with Turner’s The Fighting Temeraire being voted the Nation’s Favourite painting.
The National Gallery’s location in Trafalgar Square ensures it receives a lot of visitors from overseas and the Gallery have developed their facilities to become a destination for Londoners as well with developments such as The National Gallery Dining Rooms an award winning restaurant.
The National Gallery recently won two awards including The Guardian Media's best marketing campaign award for The Grand Tour. This was a project that saw full scale reproductions of key paintings placed around the streets of London in areas like Soho allowing people to see classic paintings on the street. Each painting had a telephone number alongside it that provided a hotline to information about the paintings.
